Threadneedle Asset Management

As a fund management company, Threadneedle's philosophy is about promoting debate and encouraging innovation in order to generate ideas. We seek the same approach in our partners, which is why we are so excited to be supporting the Mall Galleries with the launch of the Threadneedle Figurative Prize.

In some quarters, figurative art is seen as decorative or moribund. It's a limited view that we seek to challenge with the Prize. Successful art makes us look afresh at the world; figurative art can make us do this as much as other media.

We intend the Prize to become a major new forum to showcase the best in contemporary British figurative art. As well as supporting new techniques that will stretch the potential of the nation's figurative talent, it will provide an exciting and varied exhibition for everyone to see.

Whether as an artist, a member of the public who votes for a Prize winner, or a visitor to the Prize exhibition, we hope you find the experience stimulating.

JPMorgan

JPMorgan’s commitment to the arts goes back more than a century. Today we continue this commitment as we strive to develop new ways to support the arts and to ensure that the benefits are shared as widely as possible.

It is through this commitment that the JPMorgan Art of Learning Programme was born which brings together a range of innovative projects created in partnership with leading arts institutions, including the Southbank Centre, Royal Opera House and the Young Vic in the UK together with a number of organisations across Europe such as Pera Museum, Städel Museum and Musée de Blérancourt. The fruits of these partnerships include not only support for new work, but also opportunities for the wider community – especially young people and new audiences – to engage and share in the collective experiences that the arts can offer. We feel that the arts offer a significant and impactful learning opportunity to develop social cohesion, foster creativity and expression and most of all celebrate cultural and individual identity, which is at the heart of our programme.

We are therefore proud to be Partner Sponsor to the Threadneedle Figurative Prize which we feel demonstrates the essence of the JPMorgan Art of Learning Programme. Through encouraging the development of new work by upcoming artists, local communities and new audiences to the arts are in turn engaged.
